Thinking about studying translation, interpreting or subtitling at a postgraduate level? Want to learn more about different practices within the field? If you are currently studying at an undergraduate level, we are offering a free taster course and opportunity to meet the experts and find out if studying translation, interpreting or subtitling at a postgraduate level is for you.

Join us for a free online course that comprises daily sessions, specifically designed to introduce you to some of the most dynamic and cutting-edge topics within the fields of translation, interpreting and subtitling.

This course is running across 3 days with multiple talks per day. The duration of each session is 3 hours (with breaks) and will be delivered by our expert academics, giving you the chance to meet the tutors, ask questions and discover what studying translation, interpreting and subtitling at postgraduate level is really like.

Wednesday 29 June, 11am to 2pm BST

  • 11am to 11.50am BST: Introduction to Translation and Interpreting MA programmes at the University of Essex, with Ignazia Posadinu, Chantel Dan Chen and Claudia Alsdorf
  • 12pm to 12.50pm BST: Grammar for Translation with Dounia Bissar
  • 1pm to 1.50pm BST: Pragmatics for Translation with Dr Beatriz De Paiva 

Thursday 30 June, 11am to 2pm BST

  • 11am to 12.15 BST: Introduction to Interpreting with Chantel Dan Chen, Emma Wang, Ignazia Posadinu, Natalia Rodriguez
  • 12.30pm to 1.50pm BST: Introduction to Audiovisual Translation and Subtitling with Lexa Olivera-Smith 

Friday 1 July, 11am to 2pm BST

  • 12pm to 12.50pm BST: Technologies of Translation with Ignazia Posadinu
