Our Experience Essex Online event is TODAY and it's the perfect opportunity for you to learn more about studying at Essex. This event is for anyone who is interested in studying an undergraduate or postgraduate course.

 

Throughout today you'll have opportunities to engage with students and staff online, watch and listen to sessions covering a range of topics, and to ask questions. There are talks for UK students and from people all around the world, as well as mature learners, and parents, guardians and carers. You can attend as many or as few as you like - just pick any sessions that interest you!

What's the schedule for the day?

9.00 - Session for international students from China - Tips for success in your new journey, the Way to Essex

This session is for our students looking to join us from China. Our China team will discuss Pre-Sessional English courses, Accommodation and how to pay your deposit and tuition fees.

10.00 - Welcome to Experience Essex Online

In this session you will receive a warm welcome from the University, as well as an overview of live and on-demand sessions available during the day. This session will give you the insider info on how to get the most out of your experience. This session will be repeated at 15.00. 

10.30 - Student accommodation talk

In this session we'll talk about the accommodation we have available for students. There will be an introduction from our Accommodation Essex team (who run all of our accommodation on campus) as well as a panel featuring students who live in the different types of accommodation we have on campus. This session will be repeated at 17.00. 

13.00 Session for International Students

This session is for international students to learn more about finance and funding, including our regional scholarships, student life on campus, including information about our societies, and what life is like away from the campus. 

15.00 - Welcome to Experience Essex Online

In this session you will receive a warm welcome from the University, as well as an overview of live and on-demand sessions available during the day. This session will give you the insider info on how to get the most out of your experience. 

15.30 - Study Abroad

This session is for anyone who is interested in studying abroad at a different university in another country during their degree. We'll discuss the partnerships we have with other universities around the world, and will describe the application process to apply to study abroad at another university during your degree. We'll also have a panel of student who'll discuss their experience of studying abroad. 

16.00 - Employability: Student Development at Essex

In this session we'll discuss the employability modules which are embedded into many of our courses, the work placement opportunities which are optional for some courses, as well as the student development services that the University provides in order to improve the employability of all of our students. 

16.30 - Student Support and Wellbeing at Essex

In this session we'll introduce you to the support and wellbeing services that we have available for our students, both in-person and online. 

17.00 - Session for International Students - Eurpoe

This session is for students from Europe to learn more about finance and funding, including our regional scholarships, student life on campus, including information about our societies, and what life is like away from the campus. Student ambassadors from the region will also be taking part in this session. 

17.00 - Student Accommodation talk (repeated)

In this session we'll talk about the accommodation we have available for students. There will be an introduction from our Accommodation Essex team (who run all of our accommodation on campus) as well as a panel featuring students who live in the different types of accommodation we have on campus.  

17.30 - Why Essex? Student Panel (Undergraduate)

This session will be led by our undergraduate students. They'll discuss why they decided to study at Essex and why they think you should study with us too!

This session will be led by our postgraduate students. They'll discuss why they decided to study at Essex and why they think you should study with us too! 

18.00 - Undergraduate Student Finance

In this session we'll talk about how you can finance your studies as an undergraduate student. We'll cover who is eligible for loans and bursaries how you can make an application for student finance, and we'll go over a range of Frequently Asked Questions. You'll be able to ask your own questions via the online chat function. 

18.00 - Postgraduate Student Finance

In this session we'll talk about how you can finance your studies as a postgraduate student. We'll cover who is eligible for loans and bursaries how you can make an application for student finance, and we'll go over a range of Frequently Asked Questions. You'll be able to ask your own questions via the online chat function. 

18.30 - Student Skills - Moving away from home

In this session, one of our current students will talk about the skills they have learnt since studying and living at University. 

18.30 - Information session for Mature Learners

This session has been specifically created for mature students (a mature student at undergraduate level is someone who is over the age of 21). In this session we'll discuss alternative routes into education, student finance that's available for mature learners, the support services available for mature learners, as well as student development and employability. 

19.00 - Transitioning to Undergraduate Study

In this session we will cover the differences between college level study and undergraduate study, the academic support we offer our students and how you can prepare for undergraduate study. 

19.30 - Guidance for Parents and Guardians

This session is designed for parents, guardians and carers of other people who are planning to study at Essex in 2022 or beyond. The content will be tailored specifically to give you the information you need. 

20.00 - Session for International Students - Americas

This session is for students from North, Central and South America to learn more about finance and funding, including our regional scholarships, student life on campus, including information about our societies, and what life is like away from the campus.
