Essex Startups: iTeams

Want to make a real difference in the business world?

Essex Startups is launching iTeams this month!

This 8-week programme will challenge you to think outside the box to solve real issues being faced by real businesses. Here's your chance to work in diverse teams of students from around the University and gain skills ready for the workplace.

Please note, sessions will be running face-to-face in the evenings 6pm-9pm.

Three businesses will deliver three challenges to six student teams (made up by several students across different faculties). Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.

Each team will be mentored by an external industry expert and is ultimately required to deliver a well-researched solution to a real world problem.

From the eight-week period, students will develop their ability to work in a team, develop problem identification and solving skills, deliver and articulate suggested solutions, and realising limitations and benefits accordingly.

The business will gain insights from new ways of thinking whilst engaging creatively with students. This will lead to a better understanding of the value that new insights can bring.

The mentors are there to champion, challenge and advise their teams throughout the process. During specific sessions and throughout specific weeks, the mentors will be available to work with their teams and help on the strategy and learning parts of this programme.

THE PRIZES:

1st Place - £500 per team member

2nd Place - £250 per team member

3rd Place - £125 per team member

Monday 7th February: 6pm - 9pm - Idea Creation and Problem Solving

Monday 14th February: 6pm - 9pm - Market Research

Monday 21st February: 6pm - 9pm - The Business Model Canvas and Value Proposition Canvas/Customers

Monday 28th February: Self-working week

Monday 7th March: 6pm - 9pm - Financial Stability and Communications

Monday 14th March: 6pm - 9pm - How to Pitch

Monday 21st March: 6pm - 9pm - GRAND FINALE
