As part of the Society for Women in Philosophy speaker series, hosted by the School of Philosophy and Art History, Dr Caterina Pello and Dr Katharine O'Reilly discuss Female voices in Ancient Philosophy
Did you know that not all ancient Greek philosophers were male (or for that matter, white)? Join us as we discover the many female voices in ancient philosophy - from the Pythagorean wise women and Socrates' teacher Diotima, to the unconventional Cynic, Hipparchia and the prolific writer and teacher, Arete.
Dr Caterina Pello (UCL) and Katharine O'Reilly (Ryerson) are currently editing a new volume on Women in Ancient Philosophy, and we are thrilled to welcome them to Essex to share their latest findings.
This talk is open to all and will be followed by a Q&A. Also available on Zoom.
