These Departmental Seminars are for everyone in Maths. We encourage anyone interested in the subject in general, or in the particular subject of the seminar, to come along. It's a great opportunity to meet people in the Maths Department and join in with our community.
In this talk Nikos Katzourakis will discuss the minimisation problem discussed in his recent preprint. This includes the infinity-eigenvalue problem as a special case.
Nikos will describe the existence of a minimiser u-infinity with extra properties, derived as the limit of minimisers of approximating constrained Lp problems as p to infinity. A central contribution and novelty of this work is that u-infinity is shown to solve a divergence PDE with measure coefficients, whose leading term is a divergence counterpart equation of the non-divergence infinity-Laplacian. The results are new even in the scalar case of the infinity-eigenvalue problem.
Nikos Katzourakis, University of Reading.
