Connect with nature and people - and discover Colchester campus' best kept secret - as we wander through the beautiful setting of Wivenhoe Park.
Get some gentle green exercise
You deserve to relax after all that's been happening lately! Boost your wellbeing with these three research-backed activities:
- exercise
- being in green spaces
- connecting with people
We'll be doing all three, so bring friends or meet new people on our wander through Wivenhoe Park to its best kept secret!
Where and when to meet
We'll gather by the pergola on Square 2 at 1pm.
The walk should take only 45 minutes, so you'll still have time for lunch.
So you recognise us, the walk will be led by Rebecca and Ben.
What to bring
- A coat or umbrella - dress for rain, just in case! Apparently, the Norwegians have a saying: 'there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes'...
- Footwear suitable for unpaved paths.
- Anyone you feel deserves a break from their desk.
Green Speakers' Corner
Catch Extinction Rebellion, researchers, councillors and the Sustainability team at our Green Speakers' Corner on Square 2 every day during COP26.
What's COP26?
COP26 is the 26th annual UN climate change conference, running from 31 October to 12 November. Delegates from every country will meet in Glasgow with these goals:
- Receive ambitious 2030 emissions targets from all nations to keep net zero emissions by 2050 within reach and to limit global heating to 1.5C.
- Get plans and funds from every country for climate defences, including building natural defences through habitat protection and restoration.
- Transfer $100 billion a year from rich nations to help poorer ones fight the climate crisis. Plus, make banks, business and finance consider their climate impacts when investing.
- Finalise the rules from the landmark 2015 Paris Agreement, including on carbon credit markets and transparent progress reporting.
Come to our COP26 events and get the facts you need to hold politicians and businesses to account.
