The School of Law, University of Essex; City, University of London and The Cross-Border Corporate Insolvency and Commercial Law [CI&CL] Group are pleased to announce The Fifth Cross-Border Corporate Insolvency And Commercial Law Conference 'There is Insolvency beyond Covid-19'.
Building on the tremendous success of our previous conferences, we are delighted to invite all scholars, researchers and postgraduate students specializing in insolvency and commercial law to participate in our Fifth Annual Conference.

The Insolvency Conference welcomes submissions in all areas of Insolvency Law, but preference will be given to papers that do not focus mainly or primarily on reforms introduced by reason of the Covid-19 pandemic. Presenters may expect to have between 15-20 minutes for their presentation although the precise duration will be confirmed nearer the time. Time for discussion and Q&As will be available.

The purpose of this conference is to bring together scholars and early career researchers and professionals to support the development of research in insolvency law (personal and corporate). The conference will be co-hosted by the School of Law, University of Essex and City, University of London. The conference will be held entirely online.

Conference Format

The conference will be held via video conference over 2 days, with 12 to 18 papers selected. We particularly encourage submissions from early career academics (up to 5 years post-PhD) and (late-stage) PhD researchers.

The best papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication in an English peer-reviewed academic journal, International Company and Commercial Law Review (Sweet & Maxwell, Thomson Reuters).

Prizes will be awarded to the best presentations from early career researchers by our long-standing and generous sponsors, Thomson Reuters and Edward Elgar Publishing.

Submission of Abstracts

Intending presenters should prepare an abstract (not exceeding 500 words) and send it to Dr Eugenio Vaccari at e.vaccari@essex.ac.uk

All submissions must include the name of your institution, a contact address, an email address and a contact phone number, as well as a stage of career (number of years post-PhD, or PhD stage).

The deadline for submission is 28 February 2021.
