Join Professor Pam Cox (Head of Department) Amy Carpenter (Careers Service) and Jassa Dhesi (Trust Links) to find out more on volunteering and work experience opportunities.

This event is open to all Sociology students interested in taking on voluntary work. It offers a general introduction to volunteering, and how you can make this count during your time at Essex, and offers the chance to sign up to train as a volunteer for a local mental health charity Trust Links and their new befriending project for people with low to moderate mental health issues who are isolated this winter.

One of Trust Links' co-ordinators, Jassa Dhesi, will be joining us to explain more and to answer any questions you may have. Volunteers will be offered full (and free) befriender training covering boundaries, communication skills, self-care, signposting and safeguarding.

The session will be recorded for those interested, but unable to attend.

To find out more visit the Department of Sociology and follow us on Facebook.
