Induction to your new academic department is an essential part of Welcome Week.
Your department induction is a compulsory part of Welcome Week.
Come and find out more about your course, meet key members of staff like your personal tutor, and meet the people you’re going to be studying with.
Studying more than one subject? If you're studying a joint degree, you should access key support through your home department. If you're not sure which is your home department, you can find out on MyEssex.
How to attend
Our departmental induction will be held virtually, online. More information about your department induction is now available on Moodle via Welcome Programme under 'Meet your Faculty and Department'.
Although our welcome week will take place online, we still have plenty for you to get involved in. There will be a mixture of live events and pre-recorded videos and activities which will give you a useful introduction to your studies in the Department of Sociology. You will have the opportunity to hear from our Head of Department, Year Director and you will be able to meet your Personal Tutor or Supervisor.
There will also be a series of welcome activities on our department Moodle page, to be completed during welcome week, available from 5 October.
