The Philosophy and Art History Research Seminar meets weekly in term on Thursday afternoons to discuss a paper by a visiting philosopher, art historian, or a member of our academic staff.
This week's speaker is Dr Rory O'Bryen, University of Cambridge.
Rory O'Bryen teaches and researches on modern Latin American culture, and has particular interests in nineteenth- and twentieth-century Colombian culture and history. He is the author of Literature, Testimony and Cinema in Contemporary Colombian Culture: Spectres of "La Violencia" (Woodridge: Boydell and Brewer, 2008), which explores the role of violence in the production of urban space and the urbanizing dimensions of memory discourses on violence in Colombia.
The seminar will be followed by informal drinks at Top Bar and a meal.
