This History Research Seminar meets on Wednesday afternoons during term time to discuss a paper by a visiting historian or a member of our academic staff.

This week's speaker is Essex historian Professor Edward Higgs. Edward studied modern history at the University of Oxford, where he completed his doctoral research on the history of nineteenth-century domestic service.

One of his current research interests is the history of identification in Britain over the last 500 years.
