Come along to the Albert Sloman Library on 31 October 2018 to hear about the Race, Ethnicity and Inclusion in Education and our new edited volume.
To coincide with Black History Month, Library Services and Dr Ilaria Boncori (Senior Lecturer in Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Deputy Dean of Education and Chair of the Essex LGBT Alliance) are hosting an afternoon to promote the edited volume 'Race, Ethnicity and Inclusion.'
Like the first volume “LGBT+ Perspectives – The University of Essex Reader”, this book includes short chapters written in a conversational yet academic tone by University of Essex staff and students. All contributions discuss on perspectives of race and ethnicity, and include personal experiences, research and academic reflections on socio-cultural, educational and financial issues.
Library staff will also promote our range of modules related to various aspects of Race and Ethnicity, and share the relevant reading lists to offer further opportunities to explore different perspectives on these topics.
At 12pm, Dr Ilaria Boncori will provide a short introduction to the session. This will be followed by four short presentations on chapters from contributors to the volume, with the opportunity to ask questions afterwards. Following this, there will also be a brief panel discussing race, ethnicity and inclusion in today's Higher Education. The event will finish off with an informal gathering and the ability to network.
This event is open to all and is free of charge, however it would be greatly appreciated if you are able to register your interest.
