The History Research Seminar meets on Wednesday afternoons during term time to discuss a paper by a visiting historian or a member of our academic staff.
This week's speaker is University of Pittsburgh historian Professor Marcus Rediker.
Marcus graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1976. He went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania to study MA and PhD in history. He taught at Georgetown University from 1982 to 1994 and is currently Distinguished Professor of Atlantic History of the Department of History at the University of Pittsburgh. In this week's seminar he discusses the First Revolutionary Abolitionist, Benjamin Lay.
