Arrive, Check-In and Explore: Your first day is going to be ACE!

Settle in, unpack, explore your new home and meet new friends. Arrivals Day is primarily about getting settled into your home for the year. After the logistics are in place, there will be activities happening throughout the day.

Send your parents up to Wivenhoe House Hotel for tea and join us on the squares for a variety of activities. We're doing a barbecue for £1 for students (and £3 for their guests) in Square 4 in the late afternoon. We'll be showing films on the lawn once the sun sets, or you can explore some of the Students' Union's clubs and bars.

Get Involved

From Accommodation Arrivals day, right through Welcome week, we have loads planned including activities on the University squares as well as talks, workshops, arts, cultural and sports activities.

Check out our what's on guide for more information. Plus, the University of Essex Students' Union Freshers programme has lots on, daytime and evening.

Fancy a cuppa, lunch or a drink with new friend? Across Colchester campus there are cafes, restaurants and bars, all open to students. These cater to suit all tastes and include a number of non-alcoholic venues.
