Sustainable Transitions scholarships

We are offering four fully-funded PhD research scholarships for students to participate in one of our Sustainable Transitions DTP projects. Each project will be interdisciplinary in nature and supervised by expert academics drawn from two (and in certain instances three) of the following five disciplines at the university; Business, Government, Law, Life Sciences and Sociology.

SENSS: South East Network for Social Sciences

South and East Network for Social Sciences (SENSS) is an ESRC-funded Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) promoting inventive and inclusive social science research training and collaboration.

Sustainable Transitions scholarships

The Sustainable Transitions – Governance, Ecological Management and Society – Leverhulme Doctoral Training Programme was established in 2024. Its purpose is to train the next generation of interdisciplinary doctoral scholars with skills and expertise to contribute to ‘sustainable transitions’ at local, national and international levels. The programme was made possible through a funding award from the Leverhulme Trust of up to £2.2m over an eight-year period. It is founded on world-leading expertise in areas of environmental sustainability drawn across five core disciplines at the University – Life Sciences, Law, Sociology, Government and Business.

Arts and Humanities Research Council Doctoral Landscape Awards at the University of Essex

 

The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funds outstanding original research across the arts and humanities.

Applicants for PhD study in our Department can apply for AHRC Doctoral Landscape Awards.  Funding covers fees, maintenance and professional development opportunities during your PhD. Please note that you will need to be researching within the AHRC subject coverage areas.
