The table below is a summary of our expected Clearing entry requirements for undergraduate courses for 2026 entry.
- Requirements and course availability may change.
- 'UCAS points' refers to UCAS tariff points from a minimum of two full A-levels (or equivalent), unless otherwise stated.
- 'UCAS points' refers to UCAS tariff points from a minimum of two full A-levels (or equivalent), unless otherwise stated.
- Specific subject and grade requirements must still be met where listed, even if your total UCAS points exceed the general requirement.
- Foundation year courses typically require 56 UCAS points (DEE or equivalent) and may include subject-specific requirements such as a specific GCSE subject.

- Each application is considered individually. If your grades are lower than outlined here, or if anything is unclear, contact us at ugquery@essex.ac.uk so we can provide personalised advice.
I already hold an offer from Essex
If you already hold an offer from the University of Essex, you do not need to reapply through Clearing.
- We'll use the Clearing entry requirements (for all of your level 3 academic qualifications to calculate your total tariff) when reviewing your existing application.
- If we're unable to confirm your place on your chosen course, we'll automatically consider you for a suitable alternative where one is available, or contact you to discuss your options.
- If you'd like to change course then please contact us.
If you're worried about meeting your offer, would like to change course or need to update your application, please contact our Admissions Team via email ugquery@essex.ac.uk.
Submitting another application in Clearing won't change how your application is considered and could delay the processing of your existing application.
