Changes to Library opening hours
The Library Services team at Essex operate all three campus libraries: the Albert Sloman Library at our Colchester Campus, the University of Essex library collection at the Learning Hub and Info Point at The Forum building in Southend, and the Library and IT Hub at Loughton.
All three libraries offer different opening hours and staffed opening hours to meet the research and study support requirements of our students at each campus.
In this blog post we take a look at some upcoming changes to term-time library opening hours and also remind you about the services which are available during unstaffed opening hours.
Colchester Campus
Changes to term-time opening hours at the Albert Sloman Library at the Colchester Campus are as follows:
From Monday 28 April the whole library building will remain to be open for all patrons 24 hours a day during the week (Monday to Friday), but opening hours for the main library building on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) will reduce as we shift to being open midnight to 5pm on Saturdays and 9am to 5pm on Sundays.
The Postgraduate Reading Room and the Library IT Lab (both of which are only accessible with your student or staff card) will remain accessible 24/7, so there is always somewhere to study at the Albert Sloman Library.
From Monday 28 April until Friday 6 June (when we enter summer opening hours) our library opening and staffed opening hours will look as follows:

Southend Campus
We have a small team that run our library services at the Southend Campus.
The Learning Hub on the second floor of The Forum is available 24/7 (you will need your student or staff card to access this via the our of hours door when The Forum is unstaffed), and The Info Point is staffed as different times Monday to Friday.
The public library in The Forum is staffed Monday to Friday.

Loughton Campus
We have a similarly small team that run our library services at the Loughton Campus for the University of Essex’s East 15 students and staff.
The Library and IT Hub operates a daily staffed and a daily self-service service Monday to Saturday and is closed on Sundays. The building closes at 11pm Monday to Friday and at 6pm on Saturdays.
