From 1 August Library Services will be renamed Library and Cultural Services, marking the move of colleagues working in the Art Exchange Gallery and the Lakeside Theatre from CER into our Professional Services section.

The new name also reflects the wide range of work already undertaken by existing teams within Library Services, including ESCALA and University art collections, Library Special Collections and archives.

Library Services has a history of working collaboratively with our colleagues in the CER Arts team, including the highly successful ‘Words with…’ series, delivered in partnership between the Library and the Lakeside Theatre. We’ve also worked together to deliver the award winning ESCALA/Art Exchange collaboration to create a module developing students’ practical curatorial and exhibition skills and contributed to the real workings of ESCALA.

Working together we are already planning new initiatives, built on our shared values and the synergies that exist between the library and art collections, the visual arts and performing arts. We will continue to work closely with our academic colleagues across the disciplines to support the curriculum, and provide the resources, support and professional expertise they need, and with our students to help them connect with arts and cultural services, both on campus and online.
