Revd Dr Sara Batts-Neale

Anglican Chaplain to the University of Essex

Sara was ordained 2016 and joined the University in June 2020 after completing curacy (on-the-job training) in East London and Coggeshall. Prior to ordination Sara was a specialist legal & business research librarian. She holds five degrees including a Bachelor of Theology. Her PhD, awarded in 2013, researched church use of websites and social media. In 2020 Sara completed her last MA in Systematic & Philosophical Theology. As well as Anglican Chaplain, Sara is licensed as an associate priest to the adjacent C of E parishes in Wivenhoe & Colchester. She is passionate about inclusivity and social justice. Sara also contributes to training of new lay & ordained church leaders, writes for a national series of Bible reflections and is closely involved with Colchester Citizens.
