It’s that time of year when Masters students dig deep and get to writing their dissertation.
Clarissa St Yves from our Skills at Library team takes a look at what's in store for Masters students this summer to get them on track for completing their degrees.
Get on track for your Masters
On Track for your Masters is a programme of free workshops which will run 9 to 13 June 2025 and is aimed specifically at University of Essex Masters students to help them find literature or data, manage references, and write their dissertation effectively.
Library Services run the On Track for your Masters programme annually each June at the point where Masters students told us that they needed the most help with researching and writing their dissertations.
This year, all workshops will be delivered online so that students from all three campuses can attend, and the sessions will cover the dissertation process from starting research to preparing for publication with the Essex Student Journal.
Publishing in the Essex Student Journal means that Masters students can complete their studies with a publication to their name.
The programme
Workshops are delivered by staff and practitioners from the Skills at Library team, Skills for Success, Digital Innovation and Technology Services, and Organisational Development, and external speakers. There are over 25 workshops covering a variety of research and writing based topics:

How to book
On Track for your Masters is open to all students studying towards a Masters degree at the University of Essex, but students are encouraged to book as some workshops have limited availability. Book via CareerHub!
All workshops are available to book via CareerHub. All students should have full access to CareerHub, just filter the event type to “academic skills workshop” to find the full list of On Track for your Masters bookable workshops.
If you find you cannot access CareerHub, head to the Library Services website and register per event with your Essex email address.
If you can no longer attend, you can always cancel your booking.

Good luck, and we hope to see you at one of our On Track for you Masters workshops this June!
