Life at Essex

Home to our three university campuses, Essex is a culturally vibrant county stretching between the Eastern outskirts of London.

Our Colchester Campus is a thriving cosmopolitan community, hosting a post office, shops, a theatre, gym, bookstore, salon, library, a buffet of different cafes and restaurants and even a nightclub. We wouldn't blame you if you never set foot off campus. But it's worth it if you do. Steeped in over two thousand years of history, Colchester town and the surrounding villages have so much to offer.

Southend-on-Sea is situated along the coastline and has the longest pleasure pier in the world. With the campus positioned in the heart of a thriving town centre, when you need a break from studying you'll never be short of entertainment. You can also jet off to Europe through the local Southend Airport.

For East 15 Acting School students, our Loughton Campus can be found in under 30 minutes from central London. There's loads of rehearsal space, dance studios and a never-ending costume department and prop workshop.

Want to get a feel for what life is like studying at Essex? Explore the local areas of our three campuses and discover the range of facilities and services open to students at Essex. Find societies that match your passion or why not take up a new sport?
