Electric vehicle charging

Charging points location

Twelve electric vehicle charging points are available at Colchester Campus, there are six in the multi-storey car park and six in North Towers car park.

These are only available to staff and students of the University of Essex and Knowledge Gateway tenants.

Using the chargers

To use the chargers you'll need to let the travel team know you intend to use them by emailing travel@essex.ac.uk

To use the chargers simply plug in, currently charging is free and registration with a charge point provider is not required at this time. 

Please read the Instructions for charging an electric car (.pdf) to safely use the charge points.

Charging costs

Charging is currently free. Please note there will be a charge in the near future. Details will be published nearer the time.

Visitor use of chargers

In exceptional circumstances visitors who need to charge their vehicle to avoid being stranded can contact the Travel Team for assistance travel@essex.ac.uk.
