Support for Heads of Academic Department

To ensure that Heads of Department are fully supported, you will be expected to engage with a personalised leadership development plan which aims to recognise your experience as well as the specific focus of your role. This includes the following support:

  • attendance at the Strategic Leaders programme
  • attendance in the New Heads Induction programme
  • allocation of a mentor who will be a former Head in another department
  • completion of unconscious bias and bystander intervention training.
  • meetings will be arranged with key stakeholders from areas across the institution by your Faculty to include: Finance, Planning and Data Insight, People & Culture, REO and Academic Section.
