Profile

Biography

Rachel obtained her PhD in Applied Psychology in the School of Health and Social Care at the University of Essex in 2022, after having completed a MSc in Research Methods in Psychology at the Department of Psychology. Her PhD focused on the effects of spending time in nature on the lives of military veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Rachel is currently a senior research officer in the School of Health and Social Care working on a project with ESNEFT evaluating care of patients with dementia in acute settings, with a focus on fundamentals of care. Rachel has worked in several mental health support roles including posts at Essex Police and Mid and North Essex Mind. Rachel’s research interests are in the following fields: psychological trauma and PTSD; military mental health; dementia; green social prescribing and utilising well-being activities such as green exercise, art and music to help improve the lives of people living with mental health conditions.
