Biography

After completing my undergraduate degree in English Language and Linguistics here at the University of Essex, I began my career in Human Resources with a reputable London brokerage firm where I successfully obtained my CPP qualification. In 2009, I returned to Essex and have since worked across several areas of the University for more than 17 years. Following eight years with the Students Union, I undertook temporary work within Estates before being appointed to the permanent role of Senior Student Services Administrator in the School of Philosophy and Art History (now PHAIS), where my work focused on Interdisciplinary Studies. I was part of the team during the transition from SPAH to PHAIS, following the merger with the History department. In 2025, I began a secondment in Sociology & Criminology, where I continue to work at present. My current role involves providing comprehensive support to students throughout their studies at Essex. My responsibilities are wide ranging and include managing module enrolment, processing special syllabus and course change requests, resolving timetable clashes, handling class change enquiries, and recording absence notifications. Alongside the team, I offer guidance on student wellbeing and engagement where appropriate. I also serve as the Health and Safety Liaison Officer (HSLO) for Sociology & Criminology, overseeing compliance with relevant policies and ensuring a safe working environment for colleagues. In addition, I contribute to the departments marketing and communications, including producing the monthly student newsletter and serving as a web author for our departmental events. I coordinate the Student Module Feedback surveys, which play a vital role in supporting the ongoing development and success of our courses and the student experience. I also provide administrative support to academic staff within Sociology & Criminology.
