A new Clearing Fast Track system will be making this week’s results day quicker and less stressful for prospective students.

We launched the Clearing Fast Track to allow students to complete most of their Clearing application before they receive their exam results this Thursday.

Students also have more time to discuss their options with the University’s Clearing Hotline open from 8am to 8pm on results day.

Emma Ellis, Deputy Director of Admissions at the University of Essex, said: “We are doing everything we can to make results day less stressful for students and make sure they get the advice and support they need.

“We’ve had a good response to our Fast Track service so far and we are ready to support students who might be experiencing any pre-results day nerves who want to be ready for any situation they might face on results day.

“By offering our Fast Track route we can make sure we‘re there for them and can offer quick and helpful support on the day.”

Students can register through Clearing Fast Track ahead of A-level results day and will then have their application reviewed as soon as results become available, enabling the University to make offers more quickly and reduce the amount of administration required for applicants on one of the busiest days in the higher education calendar.

The initiative means eligible applicants can submit their details in advance, and the University will assess their application as soon as results are released. Applicants will be contacted on results day morning with either an offer for their chosen course or information about alternative options if appropriate.

If applicants need to send the University their results, the University will provide guidance on how to do this so their application can continue without unnecessary delay.

The University has also extended support for applicants on results day (13 August), with its Admissions Team available by phone from 8am to 8pm, alongside live chat support on their website to answer questions from students and, with the applicant's permission, their parents or supporters.

The launch of Clearing Fast Track forms part of the University of Essex's continued focus on improving the applicant experience, making the Clearing process simpler, faster and more responsive at one of the most important moments in a prospective student's journey.
