It is clear that the scale and reach of COVID-19 is global, and having an impact on communities all over the world, including our own student community. We have made the difficult decision to postpone the launch of the Essex Change Makers programme until 2021. This is to allow us to focus on fundraising that will provide support for our students through any financial difficulties arising as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The University has put in place many measures to help our students, at this challenging time however, we know there is more to do and we are asking for your help. We are committed to supporting our students who are most in need through our Hardship Fund, which will help students who are experiencing immediate difficulties as a result of the global pandemic.
The Hardship Fund will provide immediate help with unexpected financial problems, whether due to the loss of part time work; unexpected travel costs; help with access to technology; or helping to manage unexpected accommodation costs. Donations to this fund will go directly to students in need, quickly, making their lives easier and allow them to continue their education here at Essex.
We know these are very challenging times for many of us, but we would be very grateful if you do feel that you are able to, that you consider donating to the Hardship Fund.
If you have already donated to Essex Change Makers we will be in touch with you to discuss how to manage your donation.
