Biography

Ioanna Vasilopoulou (PhD, FHEA) is a linguist with interests in language disorders (dyslexia), language development, psycholinguistics, and education. She joined the School of Health and Social Care as a Lecturer, teaching linguistic subjects for Speech and Language Therapy. Ioanna is currently researching in-text evidence of visual deficits in children with developmental dyslexia and investigating how academic emotions affect their reading performance. She received her PhD in Applied Linguistics and MA in Psycholinguistics from the Department of Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex. Prior to this, she was awarded a BA in Greek Philology with a specialization in linguistics from the University of Patras, Greece. Additionally, in 2012-2013, she received training in linguistics at the University of Gent, Belgium.
