Profile

Biography

I am a Lecturer in Data Science and Statistics at the Department of Mathematical Sciences of the University of Essex. I received a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics and an MSc in Finance from the University of Cyprus. I obtained my PhD from Queen Mary, University of London. Prior to joining the University of Essex, I worked as a Lecturer at the University of Kent and a Guest Teacher at the London School of Economics. I also worked as a Research Associate at the University of Oviedo, Spain. My research expertise lies in the area of statistical computing. I am interested in investigating new methods for computationally intensive problems in statistics and data science using numerical linear algebra. More specifically, my main research interests include: 1. The development of numerical algorithms for estimating large-scale models and handling high-dimensional data sets. 2. Regression, regularisation and dimensionality reduction machine learning algorithms. 3. The estimation of large-scale multivariate models for the analysis of functional and time-series data.
