Biography

Since joining the University of Essex in 2016, I have worked in a range of student administration and student services roles across both academic departments and central Professional Services. I have experience supporting students at all levels of study and managing complex student lifecycle processes. I started my Essex journey as a Student Administrator in the Department of Language and Linguistics before moving to the Student Progress Team as a Student Progress Officer, where I developed expertise in academic regulations, student casework, appeals and progression. In 2020, I returned to Language and Linguistics as Deputy Department Manager, bringing together experience from both departmental and central professional services roles. I am currently the Deputy Department Manager in the Department of Language and Linguistics, where I lead the Student Administration Team and oversee student services for undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research students. Alongside this, I provide direct support for PGT and PGR administration, covering areas such as enrolment and registration, assessments and reassessments, exam boards, extenuating circumstances, academic offences, appeals, changes of status, dissertations, vivas, attendance and student engagement. I work closely with students, academic staff and central University teams to ensure that processes run smoothly, regulations are applied consistently and students receive accurate advice and support throughout their time at Essex. If you have any questions about your studies or are unsure where to go for help, please feel free to get in touch.
