Biography
I am Tahniyat Ali, HCPC-registered physiotherapist and PhD researcher in the SRES at the University of Essex. My research focuses on digital health, gamification, and technology-enabled interventions to promote physical activity and reduce cardiometabolic risk. I have particular interest in developing and evaluating patient-centred digital rehabilitation tools that improve engagement, adherence, and long-term health outcomes. Before joining the University of Essex, I served as Senior Assistant Professor at Bahria University Health Sciences Campus, Pakistan, where I held several academic leadership roles, including Chair of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Design and Implementation Committee and Head of the Rehabilitation Sciences Research Group. I have extensive experience in curriculum development, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, clinical placement supervision, research mentorship, and quality assurance within physiotherapy education. My clinical background is primarily in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, with additional expertise in cardiac rehabilitation, therapeutic exercise, and evidence-based rehabilitation. I have led and collaborated on research in digital rehabilitation, rehabilitation technology, cardiometabolic health, musculoskeletal disorders, and implementation science. My work has been recognized through competitive research funding, innovation awards, and international conference presentations, including the development of *Physio Adventure*, a gamified rehabilitation system designed to improve patient engagement during cardiac rehabilitation. My broader research interests include digital health, implementation science, rehabilitation technologies, physiotherapy education, systematic and scoping reviews, and the translation of research evidence into clinical practice and health policy.
