The journal ecosystem is a fast changing one, with major developments that have implications for authors. The flood of AI generated content, and growing concerns around source material and data integrity has led to diverse responses by journals; the first component of the this talk outlines the latter.

This is followed by a look at bulking, a phenomena where established journals greatly increase the number of articles published per year; this may have consequences for crowding out other journals, but also for how such work in such journals is viewed. The second component of this talk involves a closer look at this development.

The third component of this talk looks at changes in expectations around methods; trends in finance and management are compared and contrasted. The final component of this talk looks at trends journal rankings and likely developments.

All colleagues and PhD students are very welcome to attend.
