Our staff carry out research in a range of areas of mathematics and data science

Professor Ed Codling has researched human behaviour in emergencies, and used data science to predict when cows are going lame.

Dr Alexei Vernitski has worked with with academics in the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering and the Department of Psychology to show that a "mathematical mindsets" approach in education can improve motivation in students.

Staff in our department organised a donation of good quality mathematics textbooks to African universities.
