Module description

Students on this module will be facilitated to be proactive in identifying their current scope of practice.

Reflecting upon this, students will then identify and develop strategies to expand knowledge and skills in their own chosen areas. Based upon these areas, students will be able to select sessions to attend in order to proactively develop their current scope of practice.

Module aims

1. To give students the opportunity to be proactive in identifying their current scope of practice.
2. To facilitate students in developing strategies to expand knowledge and skills in chosen areas.

Module learning outcomes

1. Communicate clearly, in a well-structured manner, how they have developed as a student physiotherapist.
2. Evaluate their evolving scope of practice and preparedness for qualified practice
3. Identify opportunities to develop scope of practice further upon qualification

Students will be given a range of optional sessions they can attend to further develop core skills, and learn which knowledge and skills are required for extended roles. For example:
Palliative care
On call
Pitch side physiotherapy
Imaging for physiotherapists
Non-medical prescribing
First contact practitioners
Pilates
Sports club
Business skills

Session options may also include: REPs qualification via links with other SRES programmes (Register of Exercise Professionals)

Formative: 1) The Portfolio will be formatively assessed in SE231, and by personal tutor at mutually convenient times throughout the year 2) A plan of the content of the submission, or a section of the submission may be submitted for formative feedback in week 24.
