LLM M130JS International Law
This module develops students' academic skills required for postgraduate study of international law.
The module equips students to analyse sources of international law, critically evaluate the development of international law, engage with relevant secondary sources, and produce critical and independent writing on international law. It will demonstrate different methodological research approaches within the field, and enhance students' understanding and skills required for their other modules on the LLM International Law.
To provide students with the skills required to analyse international law materials, complete both essay and problem-based questions within the field, produce high-quality independent writing at postgraduate level, and reflect on feedback.
By the end of the modules, students will be expected to be able to:
1. Understand how to identify and reference primary and secondary sources in international law.
2. Understand how to effectively complete essay and problem-based assessment specific to international law.
3. Write for multiple audiences.
4. Compare different methodological approaches to academic research, and produce a critical piece of writing on current issues in international law.

2. Introduction to the School's specialists in international law, and skills in reading relevant materials, taking notes and writing up case-notes

5. Understanding academic standards and plagiarism
6. Reading week

8. Feedback session on the formative assessment, and further skills in answering essay questions

This module will be taught via weekly lectures. You will be completing regular small assessed activities to enable you to reflect upon and track your progress, understand what you are doing well, and give you clear feedback to help you manage your studies and your progress
