This module supports students in their advanced development as psychodynamic practitioners. Regular clinical seminars and technique workshops will enable them to consolidate and improve their practice. Sharing good practice with peers and tutors will hone their capacity to respond effectively in their client work.
Most students on this module will also be pursuing their development as researchers. This module will enable them to explore and understand the relevance of research to their clinical practice and understand the creative tension between their two roles.
Some students will be qualified counsellors working towards personal accreditation with the BACP. This module will support them in acquiring the necessary hours and in preparing for their accreditation application
This module aims to:
1. support students in developing further in their professional practice
2. support students towards personal accreditation with the BACP
3. help students understand the creative tension between research and clinical work

The module will take the form of weekly clinical seminars in year 1.
Readings of interest may be provided but there is no set syllabus
Each week in year 1, for 25 weeks, students will bring accounts of their clinical work for discussion in the group.
Towards the end of the year there will be a workshop on BACP accreditation

- Remote, open book: Your exam will take place remotely via an online learning platform. You may refer to any physical or electronic materials during the exam.
- In-person, open book: Your exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer to any physical materials such as paper study notes or a textbook during the exam. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
- In-person, open book (restricted): The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may refer only to specific physical materials such as a named textbook during the exam. Permitted materials will be specified by your department. Electronic devices may not be used in the exam.
- In-person, closed book: The exam will take place on campus under invigilation. You may not refer to any physical materials or electronic devices during the exam. There may be times when a paper dictionary,
