Learning and teaching methods

This is an online only module and students studying at Levels 6 & 7 will study this module together. • Teaching – Sessions will be delivered with the aid of guided study on Moodle. This will be based on key areas outlined in the module content and in line with the learning outcomes. Weekly content will direct students to additional resources and support activities specific to each academic level. A variety of resources will be used to appeal to various learning styles. • Learning – The module outcomes are academic level specific and aligned with the assessment strategy. The tutor will provide academic support via Moodle, telephone and email. • Online discussions –There will be online discussion forums via Moodle for each topic area covered and one for the assessment. Forums will be restricted based on the academic level and are moderated by the tutor. There will be a synchronous learning session at the start of the course to provide immediate feedback. Students will be encouraged to create a cohort Facebook or WhatsApp page to facilitate peer learning and support. • Assessment – Essay- using a reflective approach, students will be required to self-select a case study based on a patient/client that they have cared for from their area of practice and critique the management of the patient/client in line with current research. Through this assignment, the student must demonstrate how he/she has met all the learning outcomes. Although the assessment strategy involves the same tasks, the level of critical ability required for successful completion will vary dependent on academic level.
