Collaboration With Designers

Module aims

Aims:

The module explores the different modes of collaboration between the director and the artistic and technical teams which contribute to the production. It is envisaged that the module will be subdivided into sections covering the main areas of collaboration one at a time.

Module information

Syllabus:

*Working with the designer: main principles and method of work illustrated on extant models and costume designs.
* Working with the lighting designer: what can and cannot be done, the timing of the designer's involvement, basic principles of lighting. Exercises in lighting an extant model.
* Working with a fight director: the basic principles of fight arrangement; safety and the director's responsibility; staging armed and unarmed combat

Teaching and Learning Methods: Directed autonomous learning, workshops, rehearsals, seminars, presentations and feedback sessions.
