You will work to demonstrate well developed and truthfully expressed relationships, connecting in an organic way the emotional inner life of a character, with the external communication of that life to an audience. You will be expected to be in charge of your creative choices bringing ideas of your own to the director of the project, and to contribute fully to the company as a whole. You will gain a deeper understanding of verse, phrasing, colour and the breathing demands of extended thoughts and ideas within a complex structure, and learn to incorporate the heightened language, into your personal thought process.
The module aims to encourage students to:
1. Make bold character choices and execute them with freedom and specificity.
2. Communicate a complex and demanding text with ease, confidence and sophistication.
3. Take creative responsibility for their own work.
4. Contribute fully to the work of the company.
5. Integrate technical skills into the life of the character in a sustained way
By the end of this module you will be able to demonstrate ability to:
1. Find and communicate connection between text, character & situation.
2. Sustain creativity through fresh responses to material & fellow actors.
3. Transform into character through rehearsal choices.
4. Take and build on Director’s notes.
5. Exercise flexibility & sensitivity to change within the process.
6. Show commitment, positive attitude, discipline and focus.
7. Communicate character through voice, speech, physicality & movement.
8. Be aware of strengths/weaknesses, as an actor & within the project.
9. Accept, understand & act on criticism.
10. Show breadth & relevance of research material from a variety of sources.

13. Extend range, confidence & realisation of potential
In this module you will be encouraged to sustain in a consistent way elements explored in previous modules, as well as integrating the technical aspects required by these physically and vocally demanding texts. You will be asked to show courage in taking risks within your character creation, and marry bold strokes with intricate detail.

Students work with tutors in small group practical classes.
Learning also takes place in presentations, workshops, supervised and unsupervised rehearsals and performance.
