Welcome to the Essex Volunteering Hub, where you can advertise your volunteering opportunities to our students.
Students at the University of Essex are keen to become a part of the local community and volunteer.
Definition of volunteering
The University defines volunteering as any activity that involves spending time doing something unpaid that benefits individuals (other than close family members), groups, the environment and the community. Central to this definition is the fact that volunteering must be a choice freely made by each individual.
This can include formal activity undertaken through public, private and voluntary organisations as well as informal community participation and social action. Everyone has the right to volunteer and volunteering can have significant benefits for individuals.
Who we work with
The Essex Volunteering Hub works currently with around 50 external organisations and we strive to offer students a diverse range of opportunities and different types of activities, be it a one off project or a regular placement.
Register your opportunity
Our online GradIntelligence based registration system is designed to make it easy for community volunteer organisations to log their opportunities with us. The system collates a variety of data associated with volunteering activities enabling the Hub and the volunteering providers to evaluate the outcomes for each activity.
