Economics at Essex has been ranked joint 3rd among all UK economics departments in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise published on 18th December 2008.

We hope that you will find here all that you need to know about economics modules, the faculty and our research - if not, please contact us with your questions.

The department maintains a world class reputation for teaching and research in Economics. In the most recent national assessment of teaching quality the department was awarded the maximum, 24/24 score.

The department has been ranked among the top four research departments in Britain in appraisals conducted by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). In the 2001 ranking it was awarded a top 5* grade. Members of staff specialise in a wide range of theoretical and applied economics and many are leaders in their fields.

Economics at Essex has also been rated as 'excellent' in European rankings compiled by the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) in Gutersloh, Germany.
