The flexible MBA for working professionals

Our part-time MBA, is a flexible MBA designed to give you fresh inspiration to tackle the daily challenges you face in the workplace.

There are three part-time pathways on the Essex MBA to provide you with maximum flexibility: the two-year, three-year and modular pathway. Regardless of which pathway you choose, you will graduate with the same Essex MBA qualification and will be ready to take your career to the next level.

Which MBA pathway?

With three (part-time) pathways to choose from, how can you decide which pathway is right for you?

We’d encourage you to research each of the pathways to decide which one to follow to achieve your Essex MBA. However, it is possible to change your pathway after you’ve joined the course. This ensures that your MBA is truly flexible and reflective of your fluctuating capacity to accommodate study in your work-life balance.

We can't choose for you but you can find out more about why you should choose each pathway below:

Two-year pathway

The two-year Essex MBA pathway takes 24 months to complete and is ideal if you want to complete your MBA in a short amount of time while you continue to work or run your own business venture.

In the classes associated with your modules you will be joined by MBA colleagues from the full-time MBA programme and from the other Essex MBA pathways. You will learn as much from your fellow cohort of MBA students as from academic staff.

If you choose the two-year pathway you will know from the outset that fast completion is important to you so you can prepare for the future of your career from day one of the course.

Three-year pathway

The three-year Essex MBA pathway takes 36 months to complete and is ideal if you want a little more time to complete your MBA studies while prioritising your own employment or business venture.

You will be joined in your modules by MBA colleagues from the full-time MBA programme and from the other Essex MBA pathways. You will learn as much from your fellow cohort of MBA students as from academic staff. You will still need to meet the same deadlines for modules as your MBA colleagues on other pathways but you will be able to complete fewer modules per year to even out your workload.

Modular pathway

The modular Essex MBA pathway can take you between 24 and 60 months to complete (although we recommend that you complete the bulk of your modules within 36 months).

This pathway is ideal if you will not know how much time you can devote to your studies until you have started your modules. You can slow down or speed up your studies over each twelve-month period according to your ability, workload and work-life balance. 

You will be joined in your modules by MBA colleagues from the full-time MBA programme and from the other Essex MBA pathways. You will learn as much from your fellow cohort of MBA students as from academic staff. You will still need to meet the same deadlines for modules as your MBA colleagues on other pathways but you will be able to complete fewer or more modules per year to reflect your capacity.
