The Admissions Office manages the policy and processing of admission to the University at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

How we can help

We can offer advice, support and guidance on all aspects of the application process, including:

  • the range of courses (undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research) offered at Essex
  • the entry requirements for those courses (including expert knowledge of a wide range of UK, EU and international qualifications, and English language qualifications)
  • how and when to apply
  • the status of an application to Essex, and the next steps if an offer has been made
  • confirmation of places for conditional offer holders, on receipt of results
  • making a Clearing application for undergraduate study (once the main application cycle has ended)
  • fee status assessments (to determine whether an applicant should be classed as a home or overseas student for tuition fee purposes)
  • UK Visas and Immigration requirements for applicants who require a Student visa to study in the UK
  • issuing a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to eligible applicants, which is required in order to make a Student visa application
  • readmission for former students who are requesting permission to be readmitted to study
  • maintaining publications and websites relating to courses and entry requirements, including listings on the UCAS website
