Low-cost short-term accommodation on campus

As part of a package of measures to support employees during the cost-of-living crisis, a scheme to offer employees low-cost short-term accommodation on campus has been developed.

Eligibility

All employees with a current contract of employment that spans the dates requested are eligible to participate in the scheme.

Offer

An individual ensuite room in shared accommodation (with shared kitchen) available at cost on a nightly basis up to a maximum of two weeks at a time.

Only rooms in vacant flats will be available (there will be no bookable accommodation in rooms within occupied student flats).

The scheme is open until July 2024. For the 2023-24 academic year, accommodation is available in South Courts, Colchester Campus at the following rates:

• £30 per night (bring your own bedding and towels)
• £40 per night with laundry provided

Process

E-mail eventessex@essex.ac.uk requesting the number of nights and dates you would like to book quoting your personal reference number (available on HR Organiser) 

The event Essex team will check eligibility with People and Culture and confirm the booking and check-in/out instructions.

You will be required to show your staff card as ID at check-in.
