Events for schools and colleges

Maths Winsten Day

A young man with dark hair and glasses is writing a mathematical formula on a surface, the window through which the photo is taken is also covered in formulas.

Please note the below event has now passed and bookings are closed. We will be planning our activities for next year soon and will update this page accordingly.

Actuaries are problem solvers and strategic thinkers who use their skills to help measure the probability and risk of future events. Business and industry increasingly depend on the skills of actuaries and analysts to help them model and plan for the future.

Join the IFoA and the University of Essex on Winsten Day for an interactive session focusing on how actuaries are applying their unique skill set to some of the biggest problems facing society. Hear from the IFoA, the only chartered body dedicated to educating, developing and regulating actuaries, learn about what actuaries do and whether you have what it takes to help businesses and individuals prepare for the defining issue of our time, climate change.

Winsten Day is a free event for Sixth Form and College students who are studying Maths. This event is ideal for students who are thinking of applying to study Actuarial Science, Mathematics or related university courses, or for students who are interested in how problem solvers and strategic thinking can be applied in a professional role.
