Welcoming international visiting fellows

Led by our Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, each year professors and experienced research academics join us to contribute to, and collaborate with, our research community, as part of our International Visiting Fellowships Scheme.

Hosted by a research centre linked to their research area, Fellows join us for a minimum of two months, and up to a maximum of 10 months, and come from a broad range of countries, specialising in a number of academic disciplines. Long-term Fellows produce a paper or journal contribution and usually undertake valuable workshops with Masters and Doctorate students.

My time at Essex was a tremendous learning opportunity for me, providing me with a chance to see sociology, and indeed the world, from a different point of view.  I met numerous outstanding sociologists with whom I intend to stay in contact, and with whom I hope to collaborate in the future.
