Can eating meat ever be ethical?

That’s the question we’re asking in our first THINK debate of 2019.

TELL ME MORE…
We know veganism is a fast-growing movement – some say the fastest growing social justice movement in the world - and many of us are reducing our meat intake.

Why?
Well, there are lots of reasons: animal welfare, environmental concerns and health issues to name a few.

But there are also people who believe eating meat can be done in a way that is responsible, resourceful and ethical.

In this talk, we’ll hear the case for and against eating meat.

Are you ready to have your say?

OUR SPEAKERS
1) Anna Blumfield from Pasture for Life.

Anna is a third generation farmer at Deersbrook Farm, Littles lane. With their commitment to animal welfare, Deersbrook became Essex’s first 100% grass-fed cattle farm.

Anna will talk about her farming practice and explain how using animals for food can be done in an ethical way.

On the other side of the debate...
2) Sophie Kennerley, a long time vegan and animal rights activist.

Originally from rural Essex, Sophie has been a central figure in the animal rights movement in Cambridge for a number of years.

She has worked on local, national and international campaigns for the eradication of the use of animals in agriculture, research, breeding, fashion, entertainment and bloodsports.

Sophie has a background in healthcare, having trained as an adult nurse, and is also interested in improving human health.
