Southend Applicant Days

If you've made an application to study at our Southend Campus, you might be invited to an Applicant Day.

Our Applicant Days have a departmental focus so they provide the perfect opportunity to get to meet academic staff, chat to current students and get all of your questions answered before you make your final choice via UCAS

Your invitation will be sent via email, so please keep an eye out for it.

Responding to your invitation

Once to have received you invitation, you will need to respond to let us know if you will be attending. To do this you’ll need to set up your myEssex portal by following the steps below:

  1. Head to the myEssex portal
  2. Complete the registration form
  3. Click on the link in the activation email

Once you have clicked on the link in the email, you will then be able to access your portal where you will find your Applicant Day Programme and the following options regarding your invite:

  • Confirm you are able to attend the date by booking your place
  • Request an alternative date if you are unable to make the original date
  • Cancel your invitation to let us know you will not be attending

Places are limited,  so please respond to your invitation as soon as possible.

Your Applicant Day Programme

Registration will take place in The Gateway Building so please head here when you arrive on campus.

Your programme for the day will be unique for each subject so please check your Applicant Day Programme on your myEssex portal very carefully.

Travelling to our Southend Campus

By car

There are several public car parks close to out Southend Campus. We recommend parking in Warrior Square Car Park which is a 3 minute walk from The Gateway Building. Standard parking charges apply but you can claim this cost back via our Applicant Day Travel Bursary.

Your Applicant Day Programme on your myEssex portal will feature a map highlighting the location of various car parks in Southend.

By train

There are two train stations in Southend, both of which are within walking distance of the campus: Southend Central Station which is located next to the campus, and Southend Victoria which is a 5 minute walk from the campus.

Overnight accommodation

If you need somewhere to stay in Southend before or after your Applicant Day, we have guest accommodation available in our University Square student accommodation. The current room rate is £40 per person, per night.
