Referencing skills

Referencing skills are a vital part of academic writing. To reference incorrectly can be considered an academic offence. It is therefore crucial that you understand how to reference correctly and follow the guidelines set out by each department.

Training courses

For an introduction to referencing, and to practice creating references, have a go at the Library’s online tutorial.

ITS also runs monthly training sessions for students on how to use EndNote to manage your references. To book a place, search for ‘EndNote’ on CareerHub.

Referencing Guidance course

This Referencing Guidance course on Moodle will explore the following topics:

  • What is referencing?
  • Why is referencing important?
  • How to reference correctly.
