If you have been offered this outcome, this means you have passed your current year of study but have been given a further reassessment opportunity in your previously trailed credits. This outcome gives you the option to undertake reassessment over the Summer in your failed credits in the module(s) you have trailed.
Please note, if you are already carrying 15 failed credits, you need to pass at least 15 credits of your reassessment to be eligible to proceed to your next year of study or to be awarded your full honours degree, as you can only fail a maximum of 30 credits’ worth of non-core modules across your whole honours degree. Where your reassessment is in one module which is worth all 30 credits’ you will need to pass the whole module as credits cannot be awarded for partial completion. If you do not pass sufficient credits, in September, the Board of Examiners will consider whether you can be offered further reassessment in 2022-23 and/or your eligibility for an exit award.
Before selecting this outcome, we urge all students to read the important information below.
Reassessment in a module costs £50, this cost applies regardless of how much reassessment you will be undertaking in that module. Any reassessment offered as a ‘First Sit’ is free of charge, unless otherwise specified.
You are responsible for checking with your department as to whether the syllabus or assessment for the modules you’ll be reassessed in are due to change next year.
If there are any changes, your department will be able to confirm whether you’ll be reassessed on the old or new syllabus.
If you need to undertake reassessment in any exams this will be noted on your results page alongside when this examination will take place.
If you are undertaking reassessment without attendance in an exam in 2022-23 this will take place in the main Summer exam period unless you are trailing your reassessment alongside progressing to your next year of study. Students trailing reassessment into their next Academic Year will undertake any exam reassessment in the January exam period.
Information on when exam timetables will be released and the dates of the exam periods will be updated on the exam dates and timetables page shortly.
If you’re a Final Year student who needs to resubmit final year coursework, please contact your department as soon as possible to find out exactly what areas of the project you need to work on for your resubmission.
The Rules of Assessment state that you will not be granted more than three attempts at a module unless you have accepted extenuating circumstances.
If you fail a module for a third time, and cannot be offered a further attempt, you may have to carry the fail or could be withdrawn from the University.
If you’re a Final Year student and have been offered further reassessment, the Board of Examiners will assess your results once you’ve completed your reassessment to decide whether or not you’ve passed. If you have passed, and you’re eligible for a degree, you will receive your degree once your results have been confirmed.
If you chose to take an alternative award in 2019-20 or 2020-21, e.g. an Ordinary Degree or a Diploma of Higher Education, and also undertook further reassessment and passed, you will graduate with the higher of the two awards.
